City Property Reassessment Project Timeline
May 2007 – December 2007 - the period in which all property data collection and verification activities will take place. The Contractor’s staff will inspect all properties to make sure that the property data is as current and accurate as possible. Photos of all properties have been taken from the public right-of –way.February 2008- November 2008- during this period, all of the property valuation processes will take place. The Contractor will produce tentative property values, and reinspect all properties from the public right of way. My staff and I will be actively involved, and will provide advice and oversight of this process.
February 2009 - the Contractor will present a second round of Public Informational Meetings to explain, among other things, the Assessment Appeal Process for Informal and Formal Appeal proceedings.
March 1, 2009 new full value assessments will be mailed to all property owners.
March – April 2009- the Informal Assessment Appeal process will take place. Property owners will be directed on how to schedule an appointment to meet with the Contractors appraisal staff. Daytime, evening and Saturday appointments will be available.
May 1, 2009 – Filing of the Tentative Assessment Roll
4th Tuesday in May 2009 – Formal Assessment Appeal process with the Board of Assessment Review, also known as Grievance Day.
The new full value assessments will be used to calculate tax bills beginning with the
September 2009 School Tax followed by the January 2010 County Tax & May 2010 City Tax
