Education and Training Resources

From preschool to college, Olean offers a variety of quality education. Preschool & Day Care systems include Southern Tier Catholic School Montessori, Olean City School District, Cattaraugus County Head Start, YMCA Child Care Center, Immanuel Christian Child Care and Rainbow Academy.

The Olean City School District incorporates two exceptional elementary schools, a state-of-the-art middle school and high school well known for its athletic programs. The City also offers a Catholic elementary and high school. Vocational training and special education programs are available at the Cattaraugus BOCES Vocational/Technical Center.

St Bonaventure UniversitySt. Bonaventure University is a nationally recognized four-year Franciscan university offering undergraduate and graduate programs in liberal arts, the sciences, business, education, nursing and mass communications. The University not only provides an exceptional educational outlet for the residents, but offers a tremendous amount of cultural activity and civic engagement. The University offers all the opportunities of a large school, while maintaining the personal feel of aSt Bonaventure University small college. The university is a NCAA Division I member of the Atlantic 10 Conference and offers 17 varsity athletic programs as well as club sports and intramural sports. Cultural and academic clubs and organizations including multicultural, athletics & recreation, performing arts, honor societies, leadership, media & publications, service & advocacy and spiritual life are available for participation on campus.

 

Jamestown Community CollegeJamestown Community College’s Cattaraugus County Campus site in Olean’s downtown. The college offers associate degrees in many academic programs including accounting, business administration, communications/media arts, computer science, criminal justice, electric technology, liberal arts, human services, nursing and fine arts. Programs include Business & Entrepreneurship; Engineering, Manufacturing & Applied Technology; Health & Physical Wellness; Math, Science & Computer Technology; Public & Professional Services; Society & Human Expression. Student clubs, NUCAA athletics and more may be found at the college. Workforce Readiness at JCC bridges the needs of employers, the community, and students by providing innovative learning opportunities to succeed in the workplace and addresses the workforce needs was a Manufacturing Technology Institute (MTI). The Small Business Development Center at JCC provides New York business counseling and training in business plan development, financial planning, marketing, and more.

Adults who wish to upgrade a skill, learn a new trade, or enter into a hobby have their choice of course offerings available at BOCES and the JCC Continuing Education Center.
