Mayor Aiello to Host a Representative from the State Comptroller’s Office To Help Residents Pursue Unclaimed Funds

July 14, 2017 — Olean - William J. Aiello, Mayor of the City of Olean, will host a representative from New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office in the Municipal Building at 101 East State Street, in Room 119, on Thursday, July 20, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The representative will help residents pursue reimbursement of dormant unclaimed funds currently being held by the Comptroller’s Office of Unclaimed Funds.

“According to the Comptroller’s office there are more than 5,330 active accounts in the 14760 zip code area, with a dollar amount that totals over $2.3 million in unclaimed funds,” Mayor Aiello said. “Countywide the dollar amount is about $6 million and the funds can come for sources such as savings accounts, checking accounts, CDs, court funds, dividends, estate proceeds, insurance benefits and policies, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, telephone bills, utilities bills and other funds.”

“I encourage all residents to pursue reimbursement of these funds and if anyone needs help doing so, please stop by the Municipal Building on July 20 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to meet with the State Comptroller’s representative.”
