Recognition of the Cattaraugus Allegany Young Entrepreneurs Academy

October 24, 2018—Olean— William J. Aiello, Mayor of the City of Olean, recognized both the inaugural class and the Program Manager, Halley Kottwitz, of the Cattaraugus Allegany Young Entrepreneurs Academy at the Common Council Meeting on October 24, 2018. The Academy serves students in grades 6-12 and teaches them to generate business ideas, conduct market research, write and pitch business plans, and launch companies.

“Over the past few months I have been invited to celebrate significant anniversaries with a number of companies in Olean: Henry H. Hill, 100 years; Hedley Brook, 90 years; Olean Medical Group, 70 years; Elantas PDG, 60 years; and Eden Heights, 30 years,” Mayor Aiello said. “These businesses, and actually our entire manufacturing sector, were started by someone with an idea, and over the years they have not only created jobs but have made our community a better place to live.”

“The Young Entrepreneurs Academy is helping our local students advance their ideas into the next generation of businesses in our community and I appreciate the effort that Ms. Kottwitz and the numerous professional presenters are making to advance local entrepreneurship,” Mayor Aiello added.

“The students are to be commended for the time and effort that they put into the Academy and I hope that 100 years or so from now, their families will be celebrating a centennial anniversary of a company that they started,” Mayor Aiello said.
