City of Olean Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative Releases Plan
Community Members Asked to Comment

March 5, 2021—Olean— William J. Aiello, Mayor of the City of Olean, has announced that the Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative has completed and presented a plan to the Olean Common Council as required by the June 12, 2020 Executive Order signed by Governor Cuomo.

The Executive Order requires that the Collaborative Plan be presented to the community and residents shall be able to comment on it. In compliance with this, the plan will be posted to the City’s website at Comments will be accepted through Wednesday, March 17, 2021. All comments should be mailed to Mayor William J. Aiello, 101 East State Street, Olean, NY, 14760 or e-mailed to All residents sending comments should give their name and address.

In addition, community members can make comments at a Police Reform and Reinvention Committee Meeting. The committee will meet via Zoom on Wednesday, March 10 and Thursday, March 11 starting at 6:30 p.m. to hear comments from residents. The Zoom link will be available on the City’s website prior to the meetings.

“I strongly urge all business owners and residents of the City of Olean to review and give comment on the Collaborative Plan,” said Mayor Aiello. “The Committee has worked very hard to complete and present the plan. Community participation and feedback is a necessary component of this process; we welcome and look forward to the contributions of Olean’s residents.”
