City of Olean Announces New Option for Trash Removal

October 28, 2021—Olean— William J. Aiello, Mayor of the City of Olean, is pleased to announce that the City is offering a new option for trash removal for residents. In addition to the traditional refuse sticker, Casella, the City’s vendor for trash removal, will offer three wheeled cart options.

The three wheeled cart options are:

The wheeled carts have large, heavy-duty wheels for mobility over rough terrain, a large, comfortable handle for better control, and a rugged polyethylene construction, molded for greater durability and ease in cleaning. The various sizes are on display at the Olean Municipal Building for residents who would like to make a determination on size.

The sticker program will continue to be available for residents who prefer this option, however new prices will be in effect on November 1, 2021. A 30 gallon sticker will be $2.88 and a 15 gallon sticker will be $1.44 plus sales tax.

Trash pick-up will continue on the same schedule.

“I am pleased that the City and Casella are offering this new option to Olean residents. The new option will help alleviate some of the problems that neighborhoods encounter with trash pick-up as well as some of the City’s litter problems,” Mayor Aiello said. “The three new wheeled cart options give flexibility to small families, larger families and apartment landlords, and combined with the option of stickers, the City has provided all residents with viable, affordable options to remove trash.”
